Chicago Police say Number of Killings in January is lowest In 9 years

Chicago Police department said that number of killings in January is lowet in 9 years.
Police said that in the month January there were 20 killings overall.
And the last time the city saw lower number of killings was in 2010, police said during that time 19 killings were recorded.
Police said in a press release “That’s the lowest figure for that same period in nine years.”
Police also said that there were 100 shootings in the city during the month, which marked “ the lowest figure for the same month in the five years.”
And also, Chicago police stated that burglaries robberies and motor vehicle thefts were the “lowest of that same period in 20 years since computer case reporting started.”
Some of the Experts says that Frigid temperatures in city may also have been a reason for decrease in the crime rates
Police have credited drop in violence to hiring more police officers and also to the Data driving Policing.
“However, these (January 2019) figures prove that community policing has considerable merit. The Chicago police department will continues to invest in ways to incorporate the invaluable knowledge of those living within our neighborhoods into our public safety strategy,” said in a statement
