Recently, Arijit Singh, an Indian playback singer, performed live supported by a symphony orchestra in Chicago. A well-known Chicago-based singer, Purnima Nath has anchored the show with 10,000-strong audience.
Tum hi ho.. was the melody number chosen by the 28-year-old singer to kick start the program. Many soulful numbers have then followed like Mohabbat barsa dena tu saawan aaya hai, Suno na sang-e-marmar, Jo bheji thi dua who jaa ke aasmaan, Aaj phir tum pe pyaar aaya hai, Kabhi jo baadal barse, Woh ankhyaan kare jee huzoori, Dil sambhal ja zara, and Muskurane ki wajah tum ho.
One of the organizers of the event said, "Our commitment to entertain music lovers will continue unabated. Many more high-profile events, aimed at bringing qualitatively-rich entertainment, are in the pipeline.”
Few songs of late Aadesh Srivastava was also sung by the young singer who paid tributes to him. Arijit said at the end of the program that, "I thank the members of my symphony orchestra too for their wonderful performance."
Singh has earned several awards and honors like a Filmfare Award, a Zee Cine Award, IIFA Award besides two Screen Awards. Most of the awards he received were for his performance for the song "Tum Hi Ho" in Aashiqui 2 (2013).
