5 Killed And 44 Injured Over Memorial Day Weekend Shootings

Chicago police said that five people were killed and also 44 other people were hurt in the shootings over the Memorial Day weekend, which has become as one of the deadliest times of the year in the Chicago city.

The Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said on Tuesday morning that the statistics run from 6 p.m. on Friday through the midnight of Monday.

There were 33 incidents of shooting during that point of time. A 15-year-old boy was one among the dead. He was killed on Sunday in the city's West Side in a shooting which also grazed a girl, aged 16, with a bullet.

The numbers in this year are lower than the last Memorial Day weekend, when Guglielmi said that seven people were killed, and also 61 people were injured in the shootings and there were also 47 shooting incidents. There were 13 other people, who were shot to death over the Labor Day weekend in the last year.
