
Many street gang members of the Gangster Two-Six Nation have been arrested on Thursday following the allegations of gun and also drug deals on the Chicago’s South Side.
The arrests of gang members follow a years-long investigation, which is dubbed into “Operation Bunny Trap,” the investigation resulted in the seizures of nearly 118 firearms, including the several assault rifles and also shotguns, 25 rounds of ammunition, cocaine of more than 800 grams, fentanyl of more than 250 grams, and also crystal meth of more than 280 grams, the officials announced on Friday.
More than 45 members of the gang or associates are now facing the federal or state charges, said the authorities.
The federal and also local law enforcement agencies said that they have been investigating the alleged crimes committed by the gang since late-2014.
“The gang is national in scope but particularly prevalent on the South Side of Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, as well as Indiana, Wisconsin, Texas, Georgia and Kansas,” as per a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois.

The charges filed also describe the illegal firearm transactions in several other neighborhoods of Chicago , including the Chicago Lawn, Clearing, Chatham and Englewood, as well as the suburbs of Berwyn, Homewood and also Alsip.
At least 17 others members in addition to Lopez and Castro face the federal charges, including Julian Alejandro, Vincent Avila, Heriberto Balderas, Joseph Bustos, Joseph Cardenas, Francisco Cardoze, James Cortez, James Kachiroubas, Juan Ochoa, James Pelikan, Rey Benitez, John Repel, Alexander Rivera, Tara Zambrano, Jose Cortez and Francisco Sanchez.
